Carolina rose, aka pasture rose, is a short, suckering, shrubby rose species native to the eastern US. It has beautiful pink blossoms in Spring which transform into brilliant red rose hips. Rose hips are a medicinal edible, providing a variety of antioxidants, and are one the richest sources of the antioxidant vitamin C. The array of antioxidants within rosehips have been shown to assist in a slew of various health concerns.
