Carolina rose - seed (#2)
Seed sold in quantities of 20 and 100. See seed care details below.
Carolina rose, aka pasture rose, is a short, suckering, shrubby rose species native to the eastern US. It has beautiful pink blossoms in Spring which transform into brilliant red rose hips. Rose hips are a medicinal edible, providing a variety of antioxidants, and are one the richest sources of the antioxidant vitamin C. The array of antioxidants within rosehips have been shown to assist in a slew of various health concerns.
Seed is kept in a fresh state and is not dried to aid in resisting extended dormancy. Seed requires scarification and 90 days cold stratification. Germination of seed can be irregular, with some sprouting the first Spring after sowing, and others expressing double dormancy. Be patient and plan to plant the seed in an area where you can tend them for at least two Springs.
