Dolgo crabapple is a very cold hardy crabapple. It also boasts one of the best tasting crabapples I have ever eaten. Fruits are tangy and sweet and can be from the size of a quarter or a bit larger.
Dolgo is also serlf-fertile, and these particular seed were collected from trees in a landscape setting where no other apple trees were present to cross-pollinate, so you can expect strong Dolgo genetics in seedling trees
Fruits tend to hang on the tree instead of falling when ripe. Not ideal if you are using them to feed livestock. Great if you want to eat them and have deer pressure.
Often used as a root stock for grafting other apples onto.
