Sold in counts of 20 and 50. Seed comes from Greg Miller at Route 9 Cooperative, and this is what he has to say about this ‘super chinkapin’:
One of the most interesting trees that I have is what I call my "super chinkapin". According to DNA ancestry analysis, it is mostly Allegheny chinkapin and a small part Japanese chestnut. The tree is somewhat taller than typical chinkapins and it is highly blight resistant. Leaves and bur clusters look very chinkapin-like. Nuts are about twice the size of typical chinkapins, but still smaller than American chestnuts. It is surrounded by (pollenized by) other pure chinkapins or chinkapin hybrids. I think you'll find the offspring to be interesting.
