Bare root, 1 year old seedlings.

Red chokeberry, Aronia arbutifolia, is a native thicket species of the eastern US. Aronia species are among my favorite shrubs, and red chokeberry is definitely no exception.

Red chokeberry fruit is edible to the adventurous and creative forager (astringent), while also feeding over 40 species of birds and other wildlife. It also serves as a host plant and nectar source for numerous species of bees and butterflies.

It is also a suckering multi-stemmed shrub, making a great candidate for an edible/wildlife hedge.
